Suga Mama's painful history

Although Suga Mama is often seen as a pain, she genuinely cares about her family. Though she fights with Oscar constantly, Suga Mama always has his best interests in mind. If only she could have been more self-aware in her age-revealing events!

Suga Mama's relationship with Oscar is also strained. The former shows little respect for her younger and more successful brother Bobby. The latter constantly compares Oscar's short comings to those of Bobby, who has more money. Suga Mama defends Oscar, however, and protects him when people insult him. Ultimately, Oscar comes to realize that Suga Mama has always had his back. It's surprising, but a lot of people don't see that.

The proud family is a continuation of the Disney Channel show Modernization. While it has been updated to reflect the digital age, Suga Mama remains the same, feisty grandmother. Oscar has no time for Suga Mama, but Oscar's disrespect for her has been the source of much ridicule for many years. The show's characters are often portrayed as victims of racial prejudice and violence.

BeBe and CeCe's afro hairstyle
